The GUMC Youth Group, Young Adults and even some of our little ones joined together last night for a pizza and party! 225 bags were packed and ready to be delivered to the Women's Shelter and St. Mark's UMC to hand out to the homeless. Each bag was prayed for by the person packing it for the person receiving it. Teaching even our youngest Disciples to always reach out to the least, the last and the lost. For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.” - Deuteronomy 15:11 (KJV)

Dear Friends of Gretna United Methodist Church,

Please keep Revs. Jo Ann and Ed Cooper in your prayers, along with the congregation at First United Methodist Church in Pineville.  When a band of storms passed through central Louisiana today, the Cooper's home was destroyed by a tornado.  Thankfully, Jo Ann, Ed, and Jo Ann

's mother were not at home when the house was hit.

Rev. Jo Ann Cooper, currently co-pastor with her husband, Ed, has been appointed to become the pastor at GUMC, effective February 2020.

We will keep you updated as we learn more about ways we may be able to help the Coopers.  In the meantime, your prayers of love and support will mean a great deal.

Grace and Peace,

Callie
