Connecting Diverse Communities to a Lifestyle Devoted to Jesus.

Gretna United Methodist Church is filled with the Holy Spirit on Sunday mornings, with a Vietnamese Language Service at 8:30am in the Fellowship Hall. There is an Impact Hour with Bible Study classes from 9:00am to 9:45am. At 10am the sanctuary is filled with the melody of the Praise Team  and the gospel for our unique blend of traditional and contemporary service. Other small groups meet throughout the week.

Our worship services are lead by

Pastor Jo Cooper and

Pastor Tu Huynh. Gretna United Methodist Church serves the community through faith accompanied by its Food Pantry and Preschool.

Welcome to Gretna United Methodist Church! Gretna UMC has been serving the community for 123 years. Its mission is connecting diverse communities to a lifestyle devoted to Jesus with Pastor Jo Cooper.

We are glad you are interested in visiting our United Methodist congregation. You are warmly invited to come and worship with us and experience God’s grace through our time together.

We recognize that people look for God in many ways. Whether you visit in person or online, we hope you discover something here to encourage you in your spiritual journey. What’s the bedrock of life for Christians? Is it Bible reading? Church participation? Prayer? Is it a belief that Jesus is God’s Son? No matter the answers....there is a place for you with us at GUMC.

The foundation of Christian living is faith in Christ. Faith is the central loyalty that gives purpose and direction to our lives. Christian faith is grounding our lives in the living God as revealed especially in Jesus the Christ.  Our church at Gretna UMC is a part of the body of Christ in God’s universal church.  The mission of the United Methodist Church is to “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world”.  Always remember that all are welcome at Gretna UMC!  In addition, since our communion table belongs to Jesus it is open for everyone to receive the gifts Jesus gave to us all at the Last Supper with his disciples.

This faith does not happen overnight. It’s a journey.  Join us and share in God's good graces.
